Career record: 145-146-2. After 20+ years and more games than anyone else, he’s somehow still hovering around .500 like it’s a personality trait. He’s made 11 playoff appearances, gone 15-7 in the postseason, and sits alone atop the all-time playoff points leaderboard with 19.

When he’s good, he’s historically good. When he’s bad, he’s historically bad. There is no middle ground — only legend or complete disaster. The man once scored 173 points in a single week and also once scored 31. He’s beaten nearly everyone and lost to nearly everyone. He’s the most frequent opponent of Jordan and somehow still only leads that series by a single game.

John doesn’t do average. He does extremes. And after two decades, the league still has no idea which version is going to show up.
